The majority of what’s out there are low voltage smart thermostats like the ecobee and Nest thermostats. Unfortunately, they only work with low voltage systems.

What do you do when you have line voltage systems (aka high voltage) for your electric baseboard and in-floor heaters?

That’s where Mysa comes in to fill the gap with a couple of wireless, line voltage smart thermostat options: Mysa Smart Thermostats for Electric Baseboard Heaters and Electric In-Floor Heating.

I’ll get into the details of these two thermostats to see if they’re right for you and your home. I’ll go through their features and benefits, as well as compatibility requirements to see if they’ll work in your home.

Mysa Smart Thermostats Overview

Mysa has two core products as they’re still a relatively young company having released their first thermostat for baseboard heaters in 2018.

They saw the need for smart thermostats for high/line voltage electric heating systems, because the current options out there were extremely limited. They wanted to bring energy savings and lower energy usage to electric heater owners.

Here’s a short summary review of the two thermostats with more details below.

Mysa Smart Thermostat for Electric Baseboard Heaters

This Mysa model is for homes with electric baseboard heaters, fan-forced convectors, and radiant ceiling heating systems.

Mysa Smart Thermostat for Electric In-Floor Heating

This model is designed for in-floor heating, like those often installed in bathrooms.

Both thermostats are sleek looking units with a minimalist design, LED screen showing the current temperature, and capacitive touch buttons are for temperature control. The Mysa thermostats will fit in most standard-size gang boxes.

There’s also the Mysa mobile app that’s fully featured where you can make temperature adjustments for your target temperature.

Mysa thermostats are easy to set up and compatible with the majority of smart home ecosystems.

Basic Compatibility Requirements for Mysa Thermostats

Mysa thermostats are compatible with most In-Floor and Baseboard heating systems. However, there are a few things you should check before you take the plunge.

First, the Mysa units require internet connectivity to function fully. Luckily, the Mysa thermostats come with a built-in 2.4ghz Wi-Fi module. This means you don’t need to buy other equipment to link it up to your home Wi-Fi.

Mysa also supports major smart home platforms with smart features like:

  • Amazon Alexa
  • Google Assistant / Home
  • Samsung SmartThings
  • Apple HomeKit and Siri
  • IFTTT

Mysa doesn’t support Zigbee or Z-Wave wireless protocols unfortunately.

The Mysa Baseboard Thermostat can control high voltage heaters up to 3,800 watts of power. It will only work with four-wire systems, but not with two-wire systems.

If you have more than one heater, you’ll need a separate thermostat each heater to be controlled.

The Mysa In-Floor Thermostat will work with most high voltage electric in-floor heating systems, but not with water-based in-floor heating systems.

Mysa comes with an in-floor sensor, but if your electric floor system already has a floor temperature sensor, not a problem. Mysa can simply replace your existing wall thermostat.

Mysa doesn’t work with all heating systems out there though. Mysa isn’t compatible with low voltage 12-24 Volt systems, such as propane systems, millivolt systems, oil furnaces, natural gas furnaces, or boilers.

If you are in any doubt then Mysa has a handy compatibility checker that you can use to step through for compatibility.

Mysa Features and Benefits

Most smart thermostats offer a whole range of features and benefits and the Myra family of thermostats are no different.

Mysa is the best smart thermostat for electric baseboard heaters and in-floor heaters Whether you’re using the baseboard or underfloor model, the benefits are plenty.

Mysa Setup and Installation

Both thermostats have come with clear instruction manuals and online video that are clear, concise, and easy to follow.

The set up is simple even for those who are not technically minded, but hiring a qualified electrician might make sense if it’s your first time. You may not want to mess with load wires, neutral wires, line or black wires.

Mysa Baseboard:

Mysa Benefits

Smart thermostats offer many benefits over standard thermostats, from money saving to convenience to peace of mind. No longer will you have to sit at work fretting because you fear you may have left the heating on.

Save on Home Heating Bills

Both systems can help cut your heating costs. Using the app, you can access a whole range of features to help you save money. Some of the energy saving features and benefits that these thermostats offer are:

  • In-app energy consumption reports: This feature helps give you in-depth energy reports with energy charting. It can provide useful information about where savings can be made.
  • Geofencing: Never worry again about whether you have left the heating on. With this feature you can have the heating turn off if it detects no one is at home.
  • Zone Control: This allows you to heat separate zones within your home independently.
  • Scheduling: Only heats your home as required to stay energy efficient.

Mysa says operating at its full potential, Mysa thermostats can cut your energy bill by up to 26%. That’s also good for the environment as we all strive to cut our carbon footprint.

Energy usage report of your energy consumption.

Mysa are so confident about the energy saving effectiveness of their product that they offer a full money back guarantee. If after a year you’re not satisfied with the savings, you can return it for a full refund policy.

Multiple Zones and Thermostats

Mysa thermostats can control up to 50 thermostats for multiple zones separately through one single mobile app on one phone. Doesn’t get more convenient than that if you have multiple areas and even houses.

You can configure zones to meet your own needs. For instance, all the living areas like lounge, kitchen and hallways can all be set as a single zone with the bedrooms as another zone. Each zone can have its own schedules and temperature settings for extra convenience.

It can even be set up to offer voice control with smart home integrations. Can you imagine how convenient it would be to just have to say “Alexa, set the temperature in bedroom 1 to 70 degrees and turn the heater on.”

Myra smart thermostats can also be remotely controlled through the mobile app. You’ll be able to turn the heating on ten minutes before you arrive home. Or you can change the preprogrammed schedule if you’re delayed or decide to go home early.

Check whether the heating is on or off. Control the thermostat when you’re on vacation. Even have it switch on when it detects your phone’s presence within a predesignated range, meaning no more returning from holiday to a cold home.

It also has an early on feature, this will switch the heating on at the optimum time to ensure your desired temperature is reached at the time you desire.
