4. Slow Internet Connection

If you experience the Pure Flix app freezing or having other issues, it could be due to slow internet connection speeds while trying to stream HD videos. This could affect your streaming devices like your Samsung TV.

When streaming from Pure Flix, you will need a minimum download speed of 5 Mbps to stream HD video. If you want to stream 4K video, you will need an internet speed of  50+ Mbps.

There may be several causes why the WiFi download speeds are slow. Here are some of the most common reasons why people experience a slow internet connection and how to fix it.

1. Weak Wi-Fi Signal to the Samsung TV

If the Wi-Fi network is signal weak between the Samsung TV and wireless router, the internet connection may sometimes get interrupted and lose connection. This will cause streaming with the Pure Flux app to freeze or load while streaming.

Make sure the Wi-Fi signal from the TV to the wireless modem has an adequate signal. To check whether the Wi-Fi connection is strong enough, follow these steps.

  1. On the Samsung TV remote, Press Home.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Choose General.
  4. Select Network.
  5. Select Open Network Settings.
  6. Choose Wireless.
  7. In the list of wireless networks, check how many signal bars your wireless network has. 1 to 2 bars means that the signal is weak.

If the distance between your wireless network and your Samsung TV is too far away. That can be the main reason for poor connection quality and inconsistent network connection.

Another reason why the WiFi signal is weak is that there are many obstacles between the Samsung TV and the router, like many walls, which block the wireless signal.

If you want to shorten the distance between the router and the Samsung TV, it’ll be easier for you to move the router closer towards the Samsung TV instead of the other way around. A shorter distance can improve the quality of your Wi-Fi connections to your variety of devices.

If the router and your Samsung TV cannot be relocated, then you’ll need Wi-Fi repeaters that serve as a middle ground for the Wi-Fi signal between the devices.

WiFi repeaters are also called WiFi extenders. Here is one of the best ones out there and works well in smart homes. They can be found on Amazon:

2. Soft Reset the Wi-Fi Router

If your Wi-Fi network hasn’t restarted or been shut off for a while, there is a high chance that an issue with its configuration or something else might be causing the problem. It can slow down your internet speed by causing interruptions and interference with the Wi-Fi signal.

Power cycling and restarting your network devices like your modem or router can help if this is the case.

To soft reset the WiFi Modem or Router, follow these steps:

  • Unplug the Wi-Fi Router from the power outlet for 60 seconds.
  • Plug the Wi-Fi Router back into the power outlet.
  • Turn On the Router if there’s an On/Off switch.
  • Wait a few minutes for the Router to boot up and connect to your Internet Service Provider (ISP).

3. Try a Wired Connection

If your Wi-Fi network isn’t working properly, wired connections are usually better than wireless ones for your modem. They’re also easier to troubleshoot if they don’t work.

You will want to use a wired connection to get a better speed connection to your Samsung TV. If you’re having trouble connecting to the internet via a wireless network, you can always connect it directly using an Ethernet cable.

Follow these steps to connect and use a wired internet connection with your Samsung TV:

  1. Connect an ethernet cable from the LAN port on the back of the Samsung smart TV to a LAN port on the router or modem.
  2. On the Samsung TV remote control, Press Home.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Select General.
  5. Choose Network.
  6. Select OK for the TV to use the wired network to access the internet.

If you have an active internet connection but your Wi-Fi network doesn’t seem to be working wirelessly. The Wi‑Fi router’s wireless functionality may be having issues. You need to replace the Wi-Fi adapter, update the firmware, or perform a factory restore.

4. Disconnect Other Devices from the Wi-Fi Network

Connecting multiple devices to a single Wi-Fi network could potentially decrease the overall speed of the entire network.

If you have four smartphones, 3 tablets, and 3 computers connected to the same Wi-Fi network, the speed of the connection between devices will be very slow. It’s even worse if they’re all streaming HD video content from Pure Flix or another streaming platform.

Older Wi-Fi routers and modem models tend to be particularly bad at handling multiple simultaneous connections.

If you want to improve your internet speed on your Samsung TV for Pure Flix, you can try to disconnect all the other devices. Then try reconnecting Samsung TV to the Wi-Fi network again and see if there are any improvements in internet speeds again.

If this fixes the slow internet issue, you know that it was actually a problem with an outdated router not being able to support simultaneous connections. You should consider upgrading to a new Wi-Fi router that supports multiple devices sharing the internet connection simultaneously.

5. Change DNS Server

Sometimes unstable network connections can cause Pure Flix app issues on a Samsung TV. These issues are potentially caused by the incorrect DNS server from your ISP.

The Samsung smart TV will usually utilize the DNS servers from the ISP, but you can modify them to other DNS servers. This way, when you type in a website address into the browser, the browsing experience can be much faster.

If your ISP’s DNS servers are causing problems when trying to access Pure Flix servers, you can use Google’s public DNS servers instead. Google’s DNS servers provide a more dependable way to connect to Pure Flix servers.

Follow these steps to manually change the DNS settings and use Google’s DNS servers on the Samsung TV:

  1. On the Samsung TV remote control, Press Home.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Choose General.
  4. Select Network.
  5. Select Network Status.
  6. Choose IP Settings.
  7. Select DNS Setting.
  8. Select Enter Manually.
  9. Choose DNS Server.
  10. Enter 8.8.8.8.
  11. Try to re-open and reconnect to the Pure Flix app again.

6. Reset Smart Hub on Samsung TV

Another app that you’re logged into on the Samsung Smart TV could be interfering with Pure Flix and creating an issue.

Resetting the Smart Hub on the Samsung TV can help by signing out of all the apps to remove the issue. But before a smart hub reset, be sure you have all the login information, usernames, and passwords stored in a safe place, so you’ll be able to log back in.

For newer Samsung Smart TV models manufactured after 2020, follow these steps:

  1. On the remote control, Press Home.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Support.
  4. Choose Service Care.
  5. Choose Self Diagnosis.
  6. Select Reset Smart Hub.

For older Samsung TV models manufactured before 2020, follow these steps:

  1. On the remote control, Press Home.
  2. Select Settings.
  3. Select Support.
  4. Select Self Diagnosis.
  5. Choose Reset Smart Hub.

If the Samsung smart TV asks for a security PIN code to restart the Smart Hub and you didn’t change the PIN code previously, the default PIN should be 0000.

You might also need to re-download the Pure Flix app again after resetting.
